Internship Opportunity at OutLawed India [Hybrid]: Apply Now!

Posted on January 26, 2024January 26, 2024 by arifimam0090

About OutLawed India

OutLawed India provides people with the knowledge, tools, and assistance required to understand and access law and justice. Regional languages, creative pedagogy, and social intermediaries help shape the work we do.

About the Opportunity

We are calling for interns to assist us with our work, for a minimum period of one month – including researching and creating modules for training paralegals and engaging with already trained paralegals.

Mode

This is a hybrid internship, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Interns will be required to come to the OutLawed India office at least twice a week, and we will prefer interns who can come to the office in-person more often. Interns may also be required to be present in person for field visits or other in-person meetings relevant to the project.

Eligibility

The internship is open to students in India, enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or post-graduate programme in the law who have strong research and writing skills. We will be preferring applicants who are proficient in spoken Kannada.

Work Timing

Interns will be required to work about 20 hours per week. Our work timings are 11 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. During this time, the Outlawed India office is open for interns to come and work out of.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates can apply online via the link given at the end of the post.

Responsibilities

As an intern your responsibilities will include:

    • Research on various relevant and practical aspects of the law (including criminal law, rights of women & children, labour law, legal aid, etc);
    • Creation of training modules for paralegals by breaking down legal information into simple actionable steps and brainstorming creative ways to deliver this information;
    • Creation of handouts, brochures, pamphlets, etc for the training and the programme;
    • Assisting in training of paralegals during the training sessions;
    • Field work – stepping into the communities we work with, conducting legal awareness sessions there, and assisting our Nyaaya Mitras as they help their community members with legal issues.
    • Take part in onboarding volunteers
    • Actively engaging with our law student volunteers across the country who are participating in our Active Citizen Challenge
    • Interaction with volunteers about their learning and experiences of the tasks they conducted
