About the Certificate Course on IPR
This course has been designed by our expert to cover the basics of IPR and understand Patents, Trademarks, Copyright, Industrial Design and Protection of Trade Secrets.
About the Course Coordinator
Ms. Geetika Jain, Project Lead, LMU APCFSS, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh
Ms. Geetika comes with an experience of more than a decade at High Court of Bombay and Goa. Geetika is a gold medallist in her Graduation in Law (BA.LLB) and Silver Medalist in her post-graduation in Criminal Law (L.L.M). She also holds a Diploma in Forensic Science. Her expertise includes Civil Law, Criminal Law, IPR, Real Estate, Media and Entertainment Law, and Government Policy. Geetika has worked with reputed Law firms as well as contributed efficiently to the Government of Maharashtra and Government of Andhra Pradesh to regularize government litigation across various departments including reduction of false bogus cases against both the Governments.
She is also a Visiting faculty in various Law colleges in Mumbai and has been invited as a judge multiple times for various Competitions. Geetika is also a Ph.D. (Law) Scholar. She is a regular writer/columnist with Times of India. Apart from education and professional expertise, Geetika represents India in various expeditions/treks and is an active marathon runner.

Content of the Course:
Module 1: Introduction & Emergence of IP
Module 2: Concept of Patent, Duration of Patents, Procedure for Filing of Patent Application and types of Applications, Revocation of Patents, Ownership and Maintenance of Patents, Assignment and licensing of Patents, Working of Patents- Compulsory Licensing, Patent Agent- Qualification and Registration Procedure, Patent Infringement.
Module 3: Trademark, Definition and concept of Trademarks, Different kinds of marks (brand names, logos, signatures, symbols, well known marks, certification marks and service marks), Non-Registrable Trademarks, Procedure for Registration of Trademarks, Opposition Procedure, Assignment/Transmission/ Licensing of Trademarks, Infringement of Trademarks, Offences and penalties, Domain Names, WIPO Internet Domain Name Process.
Module 4: Copyright, Author & Ownership of Copyright, Rights Conferred by Copyright, Transmission, Licensing of Copyrights, Infringement of Copyrights, Remedies & Actions for Infringement of Copyrights, Copyright Societies, Office, Board, Registration of Copyrights & Appeals, Remedies, especially, possibility of Anton Pillar Injunctive Relief in India.
Module 5: Industrial Design, what is a Registrable Design, what is not a Design, Novelty & Originality, Procedure for Registration of Designs, Copyright under Design, Assignment, Transmission, Licenses, Procedure for Cancellation of Design, Infringement, Remedies.
