About the College

Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram stands proud in the brilliance of a thousand legal suns, risen from its stellar existence of over a hundred and forty-five years. The institution, which was the brainchild of the Maharaja of Travancore, was conceived on 31st January, 1875 and has successfully carved out a golden niche in the legal fraternity of this country.

About Justice Iyer

Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer (1914–2014) was a pioneering Indian jurist and a stalwart of social justice. Serving as a judge in the Supreme Court of India, his tenure from 1973 to 1980 left an indelible mark on the legal landscape. A champion of human rights, he believed in the judiciary’s role as a guardian of the marginalized.

Justice Iyer was renowned for his progressive judgments, emphasizing equity and fairness. His legal philosophy advocated for the downtrodden, earning him widespread respect. Beyond the bench, he contributed to legal literature and tirelessly campaigned for prison reforms. His legacy endures as an emblem of judicial activism and compassion.

About the Competition

After 17th exhilarating editions, the Moot Court Society of Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram is proud to announce the 18th Edition of the All India Moot Court Competition 2024, for the prestigious Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Ever Rolling Trophy. The Institution is renowned for its legal history and the All India Moot Court competition is one of the most celebrated events that has seen the participation of students across India.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing 5 year or 3 year LLB courses can participate.
  • Only one team is eligible to participate from each institution.
  • A Team shall consist of a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 3 members. The roles of the participants are to be identified at the time of registration.

How to Register?

    • Teams representing their Institutions shall register through the link provided at the end of the post before 5th January 2024, 11:59 pm.
    • The teams shall be chosen on a first come first serve basis with a cap of maximum 40 teams.
    • There shall be a Registration Fees of ₹5000/- payable after the institution receives a confirmation of registration from the Organisers.

Important dates

  • Date of commencing of registration: 17 December 2023
  • Date of closing of registration: 5 January 2024
  • Date of submission of soft copy of memorials: 21 January 2024
  • Submission of hard copy of memorials: 27 January 2024
