About the Internship
The Legal Systems Intern will work closely with the founding team in designing, building, testing, and deploying the product features.
This internship would provide you:
- Frontier view of how AI is shaping the legal profession
- A deep understanding of how AI systems are built
- Experience in Product Management and design
This internship would not be helpful if you are seeking:
- Academic experience in AI Policy
- Low-touch engagement and executive assistant role
Eligibility
Given the nature of the work, they are seeking candidates who have demonstrated multidisciplinary capabilities and are self-motivated. You could either have a legal or engineering educational background with the below criteria fulfilled:
- Applicants from Legal Background: Past experience with hands-on work on technology for good projects (open source/closed source both are relevant).
- Qualifications for Law Students:Students either in their pre-final year of law school Or Law graduates on preparation/study break for Masters.
- Qualifications for Engineering Students: Students either in their pre-final year of engineering school or Engineering graduates on preparation/study break for Masters.
- Technology-Centered/Oriented Projects: Past experience with hands-on work on technology-centered/oriented projects (open source/closed source both are relevant).
- Technology for Good Projects: Past experience with hands-on work on technology for good projects (open source/closed source both are relevant).
They are neither looking for rockstar lawyers nor rockstar coders. We are looking for Lawyers who have a background in Computer Science by virtue of their interest or Engineers who have dabbled in the social sciences and allied areas.
Overall the key aspects of a successful applicant would have demonstrated appetite for:
- Learning wide subject material (Law, Music, Computer Science, Space Science, Bio Science, etc.)
- Demonstrated appetite for building and making things (Small software, websites, chatbots, robotics projects, other initiatives)
- Practicing Empathy (social service, leading clubs, etc)
Responsibilities
- Interviewing practicing lawyers and companies
- Drafting use case description documents
- Breaking down the thinking into steps and flow charts
- Creating product performance benchmarks
- Communicating with a wider use group on the new feature releases
Stipend
The compensation will be competitive and as per current legal industry standards. The term is extendable upon mutual agreement.
