About the Society for Debating and Mooting

The Society for Debating and Mooting (SDM) emerged in 2023, succeeding the Moot Court Society, and operates within our institution with a focus on scholarly pursuit and student-driven initiatives. Guided by faculty mentors, notably Mr. Mudassir Rasool Wani, it cultivates students’ mastery of mooting, a vital aspect of legal education.

SDM’s mission is to instil a deep passion for mooting among students, equipping them with essential skills in legal research and argumentation. Through initiatives like Juriscare, a recent donation drive benefiting an orphanage, and the publication of “Lex Eloquentia,” a newsletter highlighting student achievements, SDM exemplifies its dedication to excellence and community engagement.

About the Moot Competition

The Fourth KL Memorial National Moot Court Competition, hosted by KL University in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, invites law students from recognized institutions across the country to participate. This prestigious competition aims to refine students’ legal research, advocacy, and presentation abilities within a simulated court setting.

It adheres to the traditional moot court format, where participants deliver oral arguments before a panel of judges, who evaluate their performance based on legal research quality, advocacy skills, and overall presentation. Renowned for its significance in India’s legal education landscape, the competition attracts participants from leading law schools nationwide, offering them a platform to demonstrate their talents, connect with peers, and engage with the legal profession.

This year’s edition will be conducted in a blended format, combining online and offline elements, providing an excellent opportunity for students to enhance practical legal skills, gain advocacy experience, and build networks within the legal community.
