About the School of Law
School of Law, CT University, Ludhiana was established in the year 2018 in the state of Punjab, with a vision to produce promising and credible law graduates with potential knowledge and skill. In such a short span SOL is known as one of the best law schools in Punjab.
Since its inception, the University has a tempted varied strategies to impart legal education and execute the curriculum in various diploma and degree programmes in law like B.A., LL.B, B.Com, LL.B, LL.B, LL.M, and Ph.D. in law are offered in SOL.
About the Competition
The Moot Court Competition is organized in memory of (Late) Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma who served as an academician with the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh for more than 30 years. His zeal for teaching and love for community service can still be found among his students and the people he worked with.
3rd Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma Memorial National Moot Court Competition aims to provide a platform for law students to hone their mooting and articulation skills. The participants will be provided with an interactive yet challenging courtroom experience for developing their critical as well as advocacy skills.
Eligibility Criteria
The Competition shall be open for ‘bonafide’ students who are pursuing an integrated 5 Years or 3 Years Law Program in India from an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Team Composition
- Each team shall consist of 3 Students (1st as speaker, 2nd as speaker, and 3rd as researcher).
- Each team should identify such speakers and researchers at the time of registration.
- The researcher is not permitted to speak except under special cases and only with the express permission of organizers/judges.
- There shall be no substitution of any team member after a team has submitted its registration form, except with the permission of the Organizers.
Prizes
- Winner Team: Rs. 11,000 and Certificates
- Runner-Up Team: Rs. 5,100 and Certificates
- Best Mooter: Rs. 2,100 and Certificates
- Best Memorial: Rs. 2,100 and Certificates
- Participation teams shall be provided certificates of participation.
- Inaugural Ceremony, Memorial Exchange, & Preliminary Rounds: January 23, 2024
- Quarter Finals & Semi-Finals: January 24, 2024
- Final Round: January 25, 2024
- Date of Competition: January 23 – 25, 2024
